At the beginning of June 2026 club members and friends travelled to HF Longmynd Hotel, Church Stretton in the Shropshire hills, those “blue remembered hills” of A E Houseman. Our walks were at times challenging but we were rewarded by great long vistas into Wales and also south to the Malvern hills. We experienced old lead mines, unique churches beer and music festivals and traditional quaint villages.
On our day off, we took to our cars and local buses to explore Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Attingham Hall and the surrounding area.
Walk programmes
Please now be thinking about walks from July to Sept 2026, Dora will be happy to receive your offers.
Please note the reference to the Club’s Health and Safety Policy on the Welcome page. You should all be aware of and familiar with it and you must observe its recommendations if you are to walk with us. Please also read our Privacy and Data Protection Policy
All of the relevant authorities are taking action to reduce the cost of their countryside and rights of way activities. This is obviously very worrying in terms of how quickly our footpath network will deteriorate and the high likelihood that less used paths will become blocked. We are asked, therefore, to ensure that everyone be extra vigilant in reporting footpath problems so we can monitor the true effects of cutbacks.
This site went live on 1/9/2018. Thanks to Tye (of aguawebs) who helped us to build it. If any members have suggestions about the site and, in particular, any items of news or photographs that they would like to see posted here, please let me know. I can’t promise to fulfill everyone’s desires but I will try.
