Remember to alter, in the posted paper copy of the new programme, the map ref for the walk on 5th September.  It should be Explorer 134 map ref 053392.  It is correct on the web and in the printable copy attached to the web but I told Mark about it too late for the paper version! Mea culpa. 

Guildford's Walkfest has run its course and we did our valiant bit.  Frankly, the walks attracted less visitors than had been hoped, largely due to the much reduced level of publicity that the council put behind it this year.  Austerity biting early!  

Apparently SCC are currently taking action to reduce the cost of their countryside and rights of way section and are introducing a priority system to reduce the amount of work carried out on rights of way.  This is obviously very worrying in terms of how quickly our footpath network will deteriorate and the high likelihood that less used paths will become blocked.  We are asked, therefore, to ensure that everyone be extra vigilant in reporting footpath problems both within Surrey and other county areas so we can monitor the true effects of cutbacks.  Please keep reporting problems to me.  
 

Thanks to Geoff Lane who originally built this site for us.
